Dr. Gamal Hegazi provides design and analysis services covering applied research and development in the microwaves and communications areas. Collaboration between myself and larger consulting engineering service firms as well as top universities is part of my offering as well. Typical projects involve design of a radio architecture, designing and prototyping circuit blocks, working with partners or the client to create products. I work with the client to create new or reusable IP which they own. In cases where additional resources are needed I enlist the help of my network of professionals and prominent university professors. Specialties include system architecture, electromagnetic analysis, RF passive structures, RF device and MMIC simulations, feasibility studies, critical design reviews, and product prototyping.

Project specific consulting
A typical project would involve a complete module design, such as a microwave power amplifier, including combined Multi-Chip Modules (MCM), driver chain, equalization, variable gain pre-driver, and variable phase shifter. Also included in the module would be control circuitry, power supply and custom digital interface.

Technical write-up support
Technical write-ups include product specifications, reliability analysis, feasibility studies, technical reports, design for manufacturability (DFM), sensitivity analysis, obsolescence issues, Bill of Materials (BOM), and overall cost, schedule and technical proposal support.

Engineering Technical reviews
I support the clients in all kinds of technical reviews, from concept design reviews, to preliminary deign reviews (PDR), to critical design reviews (CDR), to system level reviews and production reviews. Participation can be on the client’s premises or their customer’s location, and/or via Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) and teleconferencing.
